Labels and Baskets and Scrapping oh my!

Pin It Now!
I bought a LABEL MAKER this weekend. Be still my beating heart. I have wanted one for a while and got one this weekend, i think it was under $45 with tax and now my basement is totally label-ized. It's so nice.

If you are thinking of getting one here is the one I got. Also bought 7 baskets for storage, just random things that were causing clutter; magazines, CD's, photos, etc.

Am rocking out right now to the Glee soundtrack. If you have not yet bought the entire thing from itunes go and do so. Right. Now. It's that good (and I also decided that if I had a gay alter ego it would be Kurt from Glee. Love him, i have also just discovered via google search that he has a Facebook fan page. wicked.)

Here is what's been keeping me crafty:

A few pages from Disney:

(those darn letters took forever to cut out, I decided to mount them on paper and then pop dot them.)
Love that pic of M. with the Mickey cone. I think we have one of me at around that age with the same thing. So cute.
Love this pic and love these girls. This was 10 years ago? I can't even believe it. These girls are still the ones that make up a big part of my heart. I really love them.
Finally this one of K and I - using the new stamps I won from Davinie's blog (love this blog BTW) this chickie is a hand sewing superstar, I am inspired, going to have to buy a needle and some floss for and J and my upcoming scrapbook weekend.

If you are looking for some webby goodness here are some good links I've stumbled upon lately:

here is one more pic - i couldn't resist:

i'm gonna let you in on a little secret

Pin It Now! last night i had a can of coke, a double stuffed oreo, a chocolate chip cookie, a peppermint patti, 2 pepperette pepperoni sticks, chips and onion dip and a chocolate cupcake.  for dinner.  and i loved it.  ha ha.  i never really do that - will normally just have a treat here and there and eat healthy the rest of the time.  but last night i just felt like it.  so i did it.  to be honest was the best dinner i've had in a while.

also realized i never posted this layout from nicki's wedding.  it was a perfect day for my two friends.

Finally, can't stop laughing about this site someone sent me in an email - these "random thoughts" are too funny

on a roll

Pin It Now!
i really don't know how it happened but i'm on a bit of a scrapping roll ever since i got my first Studio Calico in the mail.  i'm like the energizer bunny i just keep going and going and going....
warning this is a photo heavy post.

first though i had one of the best - if not THE best weekend of the summer.  even though it's freezing now here.  and not even joking, it's that cold.  Sat night our friends Paul and Joanna came over with their two little boys and we all had so much fun.  went to the park with the kiddos and then after they went to bed pigged out on food and K&Paul watched Transformers while J and I scrapped.

did some of these when J was here and some prior:

i have been saving this pink paislee scalloped paper for a while now and finally decided to use it.  did this layout of kat and i - the journalling is all about how different we are yet similar in the ways that matter.
when i saw this American Crafts paper i knew i wanted to cut it like a city scape - had this pic of layna and i and so used it in this layout, there was a man in the background but covered him with a felt sticker ;) - in university i gave layna a card and told her she was my little black dress of a friend so made that the title of this layout.
i LOVE the way this one turned out.  had these pics from this summer by my parents pool.  i love the colours here.
this one is my fave of the SC kit this month - i love this emblem (the red one) and made the flowers from the jenni bowlin crepe ribbon to match my hair band in the pics.
decided to try an altered project so covered this journal (and i have to admit, i think the title is SO clever)
love this page b/c of the story behind it - my brother in law does this funny face (no that's not his actual smile ha ha) - he and his friends each have one, slightly different but each ridiculous.  i think it's so funny when he does it.  it used to take him a few minutes to set it up but now he can do it almost instantly.
loooove this memory - my niece's 5th bday party - she was so hilarious, almost delirious with excitement.

last one - i tried rub ons!!!! i was nervous but i think it turned out well.

measuring up

Pin It Now! “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but rather by the moments that take our breath away.”
was sent this quote by one of my girlfriends this week – had heard it before but it really is a good one and isn’t it so true?

The last two weekends were very special to say the least. 2 friend’s weddings in one week and although K and I have been part of the wedding circuit for the last 4 years now (starting with our own….eek it has been a long time!) it has been mostly K’s friends – wasn’t until this past year or so that my friends have started. Don’t get me wrong I’m all about the what’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine yadda yadda in our marriage and some of my now closest friends friends that i've met through k but there is just something special about seeing someone you’ve known for ages and ages seal the deal - do you know what i mean?

...Someone who ended up marrying her husband that she met when we were in Europe together 8 years ago this summer
...Someone who can draw a likeness to Miss J from ANTM to someone you knew from high school and I know in an instant who she is talking about
...Someone who I worked with at 16 at summer camp who would know what I meant if I called her Turbo
...Someone who introduced me to my husband 8 years ago this fall

That’s what takes my breath away really….how tightly weaved the threads are of our lives. i'm happy for the marriages and all that but it really does just solidify how lucky i am to have these amazing friends in my life.

On another note I am kind of obsessed with Sid Dickens Plaques lately

Like actually love them. I want them all.

back in the saddle

Pin It Now! i am behind the 8 ball this week - back to work and trying to get back into the swing of things after one week of and 2 amazing weddings...but i'm not gonna lie, it's not easy. Had a great time off but it felt like it was over in the blink of an eye, I have TONS of pics to share and a layout already completed from Nicki's wedding but haven't had time to photograph it yet...in the meantime here is a pic that i got from one of the other girls:

looks so fun eh? it really was so great. has been such a great summer for weddings and visiting with friends - such a celebration of so many things.

i read us weekly last night and in the "25 things you didn't know about gordon ramsey" article it said he only sleeps 5 hrs a night so i'm thinking i'll try to take a page from his book and sleep less so i can do more. hence the 5:30am wakeup call this am so K & I could go for a run. I know crazy right? we are hardcore. It's really only half hour earlier than we normally wake up so i think it may just actually stick.

On another note did you see this article yesterday? said that dogs have the intelligence of a 2 year old child and can understand over 150 words. when i told k last night he told me he thinks ben is smarter :)

loving the staycation

Pin It Now! i guess what i am doing this week is more of a staycation than a vacation - and though this has become somewhat of a buzzword as of late (along with recessionista) i am loving it.  coffee and blogging at 9am with PJ's on - check.  lots of extra sleep and getting caught up on organizing the house - check.  spending time with the besties - check.

have had a great week so far with only more fun stuff to come, toronto with kat, buffalo w meag, one great wedding last weekend and another starting unofficially in my books with manis and pedis this aft.

got a decent amount of craftiness in this week - wish i would have gotten to more but that's always the case isn't it?

because i'm pretty certain nicki doesn't read my blog on a daily basis and won't be the day before her wedding i can share this card i made for the wedding - you can't tell from the pic but there is lots of stickle action going on here:

Also did these 3 layouts - need to print some newer pics but had fun with these ones:

ben loves his staycation too.

vacation nation

Pin It Now! well - to start off i have to say that vacation life is about a million times more exciting than my work life - thus the two blog posts in less than 24 hrs.

last night entered my first scrappy challenge on american crafts blog - and i won!  am so happy - was so fun to play around...had never really done any type of theme or group challenge but was fun to get inspired that way so i don't think that will be my last time doing something like that

had a faboo day today - day one of official vacation.  got my hair cut this am and then headed to fresh for a yummy vegetarian lunch with one of my faves Kat and then to top it all of perfectly went to the new Anthropologie in Yorkville.  2 levels of pure me likeyness.  and to add to how fondly i already feel about them i went in wearing an anthro shirt that had a rip in it (when i got dressed i didn't realize and by the time i noticed i was too far from home to go back and change...was a bit bummed b/c had just bought it when the first anthro opened and wasn't cheap)...neways i asked them about it when we got there and the guy behind the counter was super cool...acted like it was no biggie "oh just go pick out another one, we'll exchange it" - so nice and refreshing.  they didn't have the exact same shirt (bit of a bummer b/c i loved it) but got another shirt and did the quick change in the line for the exchange.  love stores with paper art inside (big ostriches at yorkville location-fun!) and good business sense - i am now a loyal customer.  that's smart on their part and i like it.

Had some fun last night finishing up this layout of M in the pool - she IS a little fishie! So fun to watch her gain confidence this summer and lose her GIANT floatie suit - i always thought she looked a bit like a mini bodybuilder in it with all the foam built in he heee

Blast from the past

Pin It Now!
Was looking for a dvd this weekend and found these old pics on cd (remember before digital pics how you could get your prints put on cd?) love that I just stumbled upon these, I totally remember this night - was so fun:

Our choices of makeup, attire and faux tan (mainly my choices) kill me.
K was away and I had a fun shopping filled weekend:

- love love love the new shops at don mills in Toronto -- most fav. store there is def. anthropologie (first in Canada) makes me SO happy and could have dropped thousands of dollars there yesterday, instead settled for this dress:
which I'm so in love with. The print is SO me and the style is super cute for summer and i've convinced myself it's versatile although really only time will tell on that one.

- also am loving the sundresses at old navy - they had a super sale last weekend, dresses for $15 got a few (including this in white)

- Magic Shoes: Nic found her pair a few years ago and I was always jealous of these elusive magic heels that were comfortable...i tried on what was magic for her but didn't do the trick for me....finally found my own pair - these babies from Jessica Simpson they are super comfortable and fabulous (i think these are the ones i have they have a rounded toe, can't really tell from this pic if they are them but could actually i think run a marathon if forced to in these). I didn't get these this weekend but just love them so much i had to include them here.

- i caved and got capris from Citizens of Humanity wanted them for years but could never justify it; finally made the leap yesterday and i'm so happy i did.

-Unrelated but this movie continues to inspire me; Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada is probably my most favourite role ever in a movie - she was just so good, love her and love that movie (and love Anne Hathaway's wardrobe).

Here is a crafty page I did recently, my niece is getting so big and in this pic I think it really shows how she's changed from a beautiful baby into a gorgeous girl:
